My Story
My life was once defined by the beautiful "ordinary": the endless piles of laundry, the weekend grocery runs, and the steady hum of a Monday-to-Friday job. It was filled with the laughter of children growing too fast and a joyful chaos of raising them. Plans for a future that felt guaranteed. I lived within the comforting weight of a routine that seemed permanent, fueled by the vibrant energy of simply being busy and happy.
Then, in a single heartbeat, the lights went out. When I finally found the switch to turn them back on, I emerged to find a hurricane had passed, leaving only destruction in its wake. The diagnosis was a rare ovarian cancer, and it brought with it a heavy aura of hopelessness.
Overnight, I became a "cancer patient." My new reality was measured in medical appointments, blood work, surgeries, and the sterile rhythm of treatment. Through the pages of Dear Cancer, I share the harsh realities of this journey—the gruelling side effects and the dark days—but also the beautiful moments that helped me transition from a weary fighter to someone who understands the deeper meaning of this uninvited guest. Today, I don’t just fight; I listen to what this journey has to teach. From the bottom of my heart, I hope my story offers light to someone else in the dark. If it does, every struggle will have been worth it.
